Bond set for attempted murder suspect

George Mario Gill was arraigned Wednesday morning in Clay County Justice Court and bond was set at $2,000,652.

Gill, 39, was charged with attempted murder, failure to yield to blue light/siren, felony fleeing in a motor vehicle, careless driving and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott told the Daily Times Leader Gill is accused of shooting the victim in the hand in an incident that occurred Tuesday morning at the intersection of Cul De Sac Street and Stonewall Street.

Scott said the victim did not sustain any life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and witnesses are still being interviewed. Evidence has also been sent to the crime lab in Jackson.

Gill currently in the Clay County Jail.
