Weekend search for missing man successful

A missing 66-year-old man was found safely after a search Sunday night on Truman Creek Road.

West Point Fire Chief Ken Wilbourne said the man went missing before 2 p.m., and the department responded to the call at 7:46 p.m.

The search was a joint effort between the WPFD, Clay County Sheriff’s Department, county volunteer fire departments, the Game Warden and concerned volunteer citizens.

Sheriff Eddie Scott said CCSD’s K-9 unit helped track the missing man.

Scott said the man was found safe in the woods off of Truman Creek Road before 10 p.m.
