West Point Fire Department firefighters Lantz Stewart, Alan Flynt and Heath Donahoo traveled to Biloxi over the weekend for potential swift water rescue during Hurricane Nate.

Hurricane Nate was a Category 1 hurricane when it made landfall near Biloxi.

WPFD Chief Ken Wilbourne said it was a task force operation through the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.

Stewart said 24 firefighters with five boats from throughout the state, including Starkville, Columbus, Choctaw, Jackson and Madison, made up the task force.

Stewart said they were placed on standby and staged at the Highway Patrol office, and they did not have to make any swift water rescues during the storm.
