West Point Main Street earns 2017 National Accreditation


West Point Main Street is among the programs in Mississippi that received 2017 National Accreditation from Main Street America.

Main Street America announced 43 Mississippi Main Street Association (MMSA) programs that are being recognized for their commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization. The Main Street Four-Point Approach on which programs are judged includes organization, promotion, design and economic vitality.

Nationwide, 828 Main Street America programs were given the 2017 National Accreditation.

Of the 50 programs in MMSA, 43 received accreditation.

“Main Streets are the heart of our communities, and the work they do to create quality public spaces, catalyze local entrepreneurship, and support downtown housing is more important than ever," President and CEO of the National Main Street Center Patrice Frey said.

Starkville, Columbus and Louisville/Noxapater also received accreditation for their Main Street programs.
