Section of Main Street reopened after sewer line repair

Crews from the city of West Point and PermaCorp spent Wednesday filling a large hole in Main Street between Calhoun and Mulberry streets with material after repairing a sewer line that caused a major road collapse early Tuesday.

The road was closed much of Tuesday and into Wednesday before it was reopened late Wednesday evening after the fill work was completed.

Crews will monitor how the dirt settles and add more dirt when needed and eventually repave the spot, which is about 12 feet by 30 feet.
