A week before some of the best young golfers in the world descend on the course for the week-long U.S. Women's Amateur, the Old Waverly Golf Club is hosting its own championship. The club's member championship kicked off Sunday and will conclude today with the crowning of the new king and queens of golf at the club. It's the last golf before the course closes for five days while crews get ready for the start of the Women's Amateur, one of the nation's oldest championships. Practice rounds started next weekend with the first of two days of stroke play starting Monday. Match play will start next Wednesday. Tickets for the tournament are free and are available at the Old Waverly golf shop. Some volunteer opportunities still exist as well.
