The numbers don't show any signs of letting up at Golden Triangle Regional Airport, setting the stage for another record passenger load.

A third of the way through the year, airline and charter passenger numbers are 13.9 percent ahead of last year's record with April totals 23 percent ahead of 2017.

"Last month was a good one for us, a really good month. So far this month, it looks like about the same as last year but May last year was a really big month, one of our biggest ever so we may be a little flatter. But you never know," GTRA Executive Director Mike Hainsey said.

According to GTRA numbers, 3,931 passengers took Delta flights from the airport to Atlanta and another 163 took charter flights. In April 2017, 3,194 took commercial flights and 53 took charters.
Last month's total was by far the biggest April in the airport's history, topping the previous record set in 2015 by almost 500.

For the year, 14,177 passengers have flown Delta in the first four months and another 1,525 have flown charter.
GTRA is the state's third-busiest airport behind Jackson and Gulfport.
