First United Methodist Church of West Point, is presenting an evening of Christmas music, Christmas Around the World, at 7 p.m. Friday, December 11. There will be songs of the season in German, English and Spanish that will be familiar to listeners. The event is free and open to the community.
“This is our third year to present Christmas music,” Rachel Delk, music director at FUMC, said. “There is no charge to attend, but we will take a love offering for Sally Kate Winters Family Services. All the money received goes directly to them.”
The adult choir will perform, the hand bell choir, the children’s choir and other musicians will bring the music of the season to First United Methodist Church.
“We are so pleased to announce the Sumic Trio will be with us, as well,” Delk said. “Everyone who heard these remarkable young people at Sundays at the Center at the Louise Campbell Center for the Arts, know what talented and gifted musicians they are.”
There will be several outstanding musicians playing trumpets, trombones and percussion instruments.
“We try to make this a true community event every year,” Delk said. “This is non-denominational, we want to invite everyone who loves Christmas music to come and join us.”
There will be traditional Christmas music, Christmas hymns and music for everyone who loves to celebrate Christmas.
