A 32-year-old Houston man is nabbed, but an accomplice escapes.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said Brandon Thompson is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of hydrocodone and several misdemeanor offenses following a traffic stop in the western part of the county.

Thompson and another person tried to elude the department's K9 unit, but Thompson was caught, Scott said.

The other person managed to get away.
Deputies did recover narcotics and $1,667.72 in cash.

Thompson is free on $19,261.22 bond.
And in an unrelated case, Clay County investigators are looking for a man they say was involved in trying to smuggle marijuana into the Clay County Jail.

Marques Stevenson, of West Point, who turns 39 Wednesday, is wanted on charges of introduction of contraband in a correctional facility after marijuana was attempted to be smuggled in through a package for an inmate.

Anyone with any information on the Thompson case or on Stevenson should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151 or the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 662-494-2896.
