Rev. Steve Daniels Jr. will be guest speaker at the 10 a.m. Sunday morning service, July 2, for the West Point Alumni Chapter, Inc., reunion at the U. F.C.W. Local #1529 Union Hall. Everyone is invited to attend the worship service whether or not they are a member of the WPAC.

He has been the Senior Pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, since September 1991. He is originally from West Point and was gracious enough to make the long trip home to attend the reunion.

Since his calling to the ministry in 1985, Daniels has dedicated his life to preaching and teaching the word of God.

"Pastor Daniels is the former pastor of Miller’s Chapel and the Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church of Louisville and Starkville, respectively," Bettye Swift, president of the local WPAC said. "While living in West Point, Pastor Daniels attended Ministerial Institute Bible College and later earned a B.A. degree in Religious Education from Tennessee Baptist School of Religion in Memphis."

Swift said he then decided to do further study at Bethel Theological Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Daniels received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree and Board of Regents Induction to St. Thomas Christian University - Twin Cities Oct. 19, 2013.

Shiloh M.B. Church has grown immensely under Pastor Daniels’ leadership, including, an increase to over 3,500 members, the creation of over 50 ministries and committees, which attends to the needs of the congregation and the community, three Gospel Choir recordings and one recording and CD release by Daniels himself and the acquisition of 3.5 acres of land of which the new home of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church now occupies.

“Shiloh has moved off a corner onto a campus,” Daniels said.

The city of St. Paul signed a proclamation, Sept. 19, 2009, re-naming the corner of Kent and Lawson to Rev. and Mrs. Steve Daniels Jr. Drive, an honor that is truly noteworthy. "Shiloh is entering the Phase
II addition of our church home." Daniels said.

Swift said in addition to leading his congregation, Daniels travels all across the country preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Daniels is the former president of the Minnesota State Baptist Congress.

"Prior to this appointment, Daniels was the Evangelism instructor for the Minnesota State Baptist Convention and the President of the Pastor’s Conference of Saint Paul and Minneapolis," Swift said. "He is also a former board member of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc."

Daniels had the honor of delivering the invocation at the Twin Cities 24th Annual Martin Luther King Holiday Breakfast in 2014.

Daniels currently serves on the board of the Minnesota chapter of the American Heart Association.

"Pastor Daniels is a family man," Swift said. "In 2004, the Saint Paul Urban League awarded the Family of the Year Award to the Daniels family, where Julian Bond was the keynote speaker. He has been married to Rosa Swift Daniels since October 1972. They are the proud parents of three children: Latanya, Steven and Delphanie Daniels; one grandson: Caleb and one granddaughter: Jayla. All of his children and grandchildren are very active in the ministry."
