Columbus man gets 30 years for WP shooting

A Columbus man was sentenced 30 years for aggravated assault and possession of weapon during the Clay County Circuit Court term Wednesday.
Byron Perry, 29, of Columbus, was found guilty after shooting at a West Point woman in her home in 2010.
Judge Lee Coleman sentenced Perry to 20 years for aggravated assault, and 10 years for possession of a weapon by a felon. The sentences will run consecutively, and Perry will have to pay a $1,200 fine in addition to court costs.
