A 30-year-old West Point man is sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty in Lowndes County to charges of selling methamphetamine.

And Michael Bradley "Brad" Young will serve that sentence consecutive to his probation violation on burglary and grand larceny charges in Clay County.

Young pleaded guilty Tuesday in Lowndes County Circuit Court to the drug charge which stemmed from sale of the highly addictive drug to an undercover Lowndes County Drug Task Force agent on April 21, 2016.

As part of a plea agreement, Judge Jim Kitchens sentenced Young to 20 years with five years suspended, leaving 15 years to serve. When he is released he must spend five years on post-release supervision and pay a $1,200 fine.

The 20 years was the maximum for the drug sale charge.

The new Lowndes County sentence is consecutive to the remainder of a 10-year term he received in July 2013 for thefts and burglaries of Beulah Wray's property in Clay County between March and May 2012.

Young served part of that original sentence and was released on parole. But he was arrested again on meth possession charges stemming from incidents on Sept. 30, 2015 and March 2, 2016. In the September 2015 incident, he also was charged with felon in possession of a weapon because he had a stolen Ruger 22-250-caliber rifle.

His parole was revoked on two different occasions and he was sent back to prison, only to be released again.

He has more than three years remaining on the Clay County burglary sentence.

The most recent Clay County charges are retired to the files as part of the Lowndes County plea agreement.

In paperwork filed as part of his cases in Clay and Lowndes circuit courts, Young is listed as a member of the Simon City Royal prison gang. He also says he started using meth when he was 9 years old.
