The West Point Civitan Luncheon Club are preparing for Clergy Appreciation during its Feb. 20 meeting.

"We have four pastors who are coming to our next meeting," Bill Lass said. "All the members are invited to bring their pastors, or any member of the clergy who would like to join us."

Rev. Charles Davidson is on the agenda to be the guest speaker.

Linda Hannah suggested getting in touch with area pastors and inviting them to take part in the appreciation.

"We also need to find out how many members are planning to participate as well," Betty Mason said.

Leroy Calvert agreed and said Acie Vance would be getting in touch with the chef at the hospital about providing the food for the event.

Vance said he need to know how many people the club will be providing for.

"We have two fundraisers coming up," President Jay Jackson said. "We will be holding a raffle for a 65-inch flat screen LG TV. We also have our Vidalia onion sale in April."

Civitans will have raffle tickets available for the television after the next meeting. The tickets are $5 each.

"We may want to do a pre-sale on the onions," Ladd said. "We can get early orders for them, know how many bags we'll need and then order some extra. We always have more people interested than we have onions on hand. I hate for anyone to miss out since we only do this once a year."

As a community service project, the Civitans are planning to gather personal hygiene items to provide to the Community Living Center.

"We need to get in touch with them and find out what the need is," Ladd said. "That is what Civitan is all about. We want to be an active part of the community and serve where we can."
