Childress, Webb named Homecoming Queens

Jada Webb was named West Point High School Homecoming Queen and Anna Kathryn Childress was named Oak Hill Academy Homecoming Queen on Friday night.

Webb is the daughter of Bridget and Bernard Webb, and she is a Green Wave cheerleader.

Webb said she was honored to be named Homecoming Queen.

“I was excited an overwhelmed with joy,” Webb said.

She said the entire homecoming week was an enjoyable experience.

“I was fun,” Webb said. “I enjoyed all of Homecoming week. People kept bombarding me with cupcakes. It was a really great experience.”

Webb said after graduation, she plans to attend East Mississippi Community College and then the University of Mississippi and major in kinesiology and sports medicine with a minor in business to pursue a career in physical therapy.

Webb was escorted by Marquez Carter, who was made WPHS Homecoming King.

Childress is the daughter of Gene and Wendy Childress, and she plays softball and basketball at Oak Hill Academy.

Childress said she was excited and honored Oak Hill Academy students chose her to be Homecoming Queen.

“It was a blast,” Childress said. “All of us girls getting to do our hair and makeup together was fun,” Childress said. “I’m very blessed to have all of these people supporting me.”

Childress said she was unsure of what career path she wanted to pursue after graduating high school, but she most likely will attend Mississippi State University.

Childress was escorted by her father Gene Childress.

The WPHS Green Wave defeated Carter Hill 56-0 on Friday night, and OHA Raiders beat Columbus Christian Academy 55-0.
