West Point defense making big strides

The West Point defense is getting back into the swing of things. After getting gashed for 43 points in a district opening loss against the Oxford Chargers, who are No. 1 in District 1-5A as of Thursday, the Green Wave are washing away opposing offenses.
In the past three games, which were all wins, West Point (6-3; 3-1 District 1-5A) has pitched a shut out and held opponents to an average of nine points per game. The most points were given up to Center Hill – 21 total – in a 56-21 win by West Point.

Pierce leads OHA Raiders into finale

His arm cast was removed the same morning as the game. An injury that he had dealt with for more than half a season after a preseason intra-squad scrimmage was no longer a worry. But Riley Pierce had a full plate in front of him as he was baptized in fire, learning the varsity-level quarterback skills on the fly.

Lady Raiders begin preseason basketball

After being knocked out of the MAIS Class-AA State Championship in the first round by Brookhaven Academy, the Oak Hill Lady Raiders are ready to get back on the court for the 2014-15 season.
Under the direction of a familiar face and new Head Coach Brian Middleton, Oak Hill is hoping to eclipse their 26-win season from last year and make another strong run in District 2-AA and Class-AA. All the summer and fall preparations will be put to the test with a six-game, preseason slate.

FCA hosts movie night

With a new scoreboard and video board at McCallister Field, it was a no brainer for the high school and its organizations to find other uses outside of football games.
West Point High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) director Austin Baker and Central School assistant principal Brad Cox saw an innovative way to spread the FCA message and reach out to the community.
