LaKenderic Thomas sure knows how to put the cap on a good season. The senior running back for the West Point Green Wave had a terrific night on the ground, accounting for 262 rushing yards on 26 carries.
Three of those 26 carries made it into the end zone for touchdowns, as he helped lead the Green Wave to a perfect district record in 2010.
“He’s a machine,” Chambless said. “He runs the ball extremely hard, and he has a great attitude. He keeps everybody pumped up and ready to go.”
Thomas and the Green Wave scored only one touchdown in the first three quarters of the game. Leading 7-0 going into the fourth quarter, Thomas, who had already put a solid performance in, turned it on an extra gear and led the Green Wave to two more scores to put the game out of reach of Herando.
“It’s amazing the way he ran the ball tonight,” Chambless said. “He’ll do it every game. Every game we give it to him, he’ll do it. He never has a bad game. He just does it week-in and week-out for us.”
Thomas and the Green Wave will be back on the field this Friday night, opening up the post-season at home against Provine.
