A month ago, the Hebron Christian Eagles (1-4) got their first and only win of the 2010 season.
That victory, which came at West Memphis Christian, is sandwiched between four losses, the last of which coming, at home, to Oak Hill.
Tonight, the Eagles are hoping the elements will work in their favor, as they try get back in the win column.
The first element that might prove to be a factor in tonight’s game is the fact that Hebron enjoyed a bye last week. Already sporting low numbers on the opening week roster, the Eagles spent the first four weeks of the season banged up and playing with limited reserves.
Head coach Greg Watkins said after the loss to Oak Hill that he thinks the off week would allow for some much-needed healing. A healthy Hebron team is almost essential to success.
The second element has to do with the importance of tonight’s game. Hebron’s only win of the season came on the road, so they are more than capable of taking care of business away from Pheba. This will be a conference game, so the stakes are a little higher.
The Eagles are going to need to play with more intensity tonight to secure that first district win.
The third element is weather.
The last time the Eagles took the field, the starting temperature was in the 90s. Tonight, it should be somewhere in the upper 70s, dropping as the night moves on.
Central Holmes is coming off a four-game losing streak.
With a little help from the off week, some extra enthusiasm and mother nature, the Eagles look to extend that to five.
