
Last Saturday, the 2010 Mossy Oak 5k run jumped off the West Point Prairie Arts Festival. The 8 a.m. start was a good one for the winners of the race.
Overall, the top female winner was Melody Morgan at 20:39. She is from Pontotoc.
Starkville native Joseph MacGown won at 17:29 in the male category.
Ages 0-9 saw female winner Keturah Johnson come in a t 29:37. She is from Columbus.
The 0-9 top male was West Point native Doug Laden at 28:06.
The 10-13 section had femal winner and Poplarville native Lydia Gilmore finish at 23:37, while male runner and Maben native Pirce Fondren ran a 23:27.
At 14-19, Jessica Comer of Caledonia ran a 21:36 for the top spot for the female runners, and Brian McDonnieal ran a 18:01 for the males. He is from Corinth.
In the 20-24 age group, Columbus native Summer Thomann ran a 22:47 for the female win. Columbus native Shobal Johnson ran a 20:01 for the male winner.
The 25-29 winners were Columbus native Lauren Garandana at 21:27 and West Point native Scott Andrews at 23:43 for the males.
In the 30-34 age group, Columbus native Kate Henderson won for the female category at 23:40, and Chattanoga, Tenn. native Neal Hanely won for the males at 18:27.
The 35-39 age group saw winners Lauren Gehman from New Orleans at 23:45 and Brad Atkins of Columbus at 18:00.
Michele McDonnall ran a 23:33 for the female 40-44 group. The Starkville native’s male counterpart, Jim Arnett, form Nashville, Tenn. won at 21:03.
Columbus native Michelle Whittle won the 45-49 female age group at 23:55, and Joe MacGown, of Starkville won the male race.
Starkville native Elizabeth Varco came in first in the 50-54 age group at 29:33, and Suli Alli, also of Starkville came in at 20:35 for the male group.
West Point’s Judy Littlefield ran a 28:49 in the 55-59 age group for first place, while West Point native Ed Rice came in at 21:09 in the male group.
The 60-64 female group saw Starkville’s Judy Shurden win at 30:17, while Columbus native Floyd McIntyre won for the males at 29:13.
In the 65-69 age group, the female winner was West Point’s own Hope Jennings at 31:46. Dennis Blake, of Columbus, won at 30:03.
The 70 and over group saw more Golden Triangle representation, as Columbus native Ann Mellott won at 28:10. Peter Rabideau, of Starkville, won with a 24:03 time for the male runners.
