Taylor, Graves Wedding
Dr. Emily Cristen Taylor and Dr. Houston Frederick Graves were married in a beautiful ceremony at the Chapel of the Transfiguration in the Grand Tetons at Jackson Hole, Wyo., on Aug. 14, 2010. Dr. Taylor is the daughter of Robert Glenn and Mary AliceTaylor of Point Clear, Ala. Her paternal grandparents are the late Wiley Wickes and Callie Duncan Taylor of West Point. Maternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Emery (“Jim”) DeWitt Wooten Sr. of West Point. Dr. Graves is the son of Charles Frederick and Charles Rebecca Graves III of Batesville. His maternal grandparents are Mrs. Joan L. Houston of Batesville,, and the late Charles R. Houston. Paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. ( “ Buddy”) Graves .
Attending the bride as Matron of honor was her sister, Mary Carole Jackson of Jasper, Ala. Serving the groom as Best Man was his father, Charles Frederick Graves, III, of Batesville. Dr. Graves’ two sisters, Carlyle Graves Thomas and Jordan Graves Howell stood up in honor of their brother as grooms-ladies. Reverend Robert Beasley from Camden, Tenn., officiated as the visiting Episcopal priest serving the Jackson Hole area for the summer.
The bride and groom had very close family and friends in attendance to witness the ceremony and enjoy a wonderful weekend in the mountains. Fred and Charlie Beck Graves hosted a rehearsal dinner on Friday evening under the outdoor pavilion of the Jackson Golf & Tennis Club at the base of the Tetons. All wedding guests were included in the Rehearsal Dinner and enjoyed a seated dinner with entre selections of halibut or filets. After the wedding ceremony on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., a reception was held at the Polar X Ranch home in Jackson Hole. Beautiful cool weather on the decks overlooking the horse farm and mountain vistas served as a backdrop for the occasion. Local specialties including quail bites, elk rolls, crab cakes, buffalo tenderloin, pastas and salads were served. The Wedding cake and Groom’s cake were surrounded by displays of miniature cream puff trumpet swans, tiramisu shooters, and small strawberry shortcake shots. Guests enjoyed the event well into the evening with the bride and groom.
The couple and many of their friends and family remained in Jackson Hole for the week and enjoyed whitewater rafting, a Snake River float trip, horseback riding, fly fishing, and visits to Yellowstone National Park.
Dr. Emily Graves attended Tulane University in New Orleans, La. and then Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston Salem, N.C, graduating in 2007. Dr. Houston Graves attended the University of Miss., in Oxford, the University of Miss.,-School of Law passing the Miss., Bar Exam in 2003, and the University of Miss.,-School of Medicine, graduating in 2007. Drs. Graves & Graves returned to Memphis, Tenn, where they are completing their respective residencies in Ophthalmology and Radiology.
