With the Prairie Arts Festival just two weeks away the volunteers that help make this event the success it is are hard at work.
The Prairie Arts Festival committee has been meeting every week working on the details and getting ready for approximately 300 vendors that will descend on West Point Labor Day weekend.
There will be lots to do on the Prairie Arts Weekend starting on Friday night, Aug.31with the Howlin’ Wolf Memorial Blues Festival. Saturday gets kicked of with the Prairie Arts Festival 5K with registration starting at 7 a.m. and the race beginning at 8 a.m. The Arts and Crafts vendors and Kids Town will open at 9a.m. We have some outstanding artist and craftsmen that will be here so be sure and put on your shopping shoes and join the fun.
There will be lots of things for the kids to do in Kids Town with inflatables and a variety of other games and vendors. The activities will be ticketed, and the tickets will be available in front of the Growth Alliance office that day.
As always we will have three stages featuring musical entertainment. Kay Bain will start the day’s entertainment off on the Gospel Stage that will be located between the churches on Broad Street. Davo, Keith & Margie, The Chad Peavy Band and Arcadia will be performing on the Cadence Main Stage. In addition to being the stage where the winners of the 5K race and Juried Art awards will be announced, the West Point High School Show Choir, Dynasty, Tim “Mookey” Wilson, Tom Foolery and Joe Johnson will be performing on the Gazebo Stage.
Another part of the Prairie Arts Festival is the Mossy Oak Street Rod and Antique Car Show that will be taking place at the Mossy Oak Outlet with registration from 8 a.m. until noon. Judging will begin at noon and awards will be presented at 3 p.m.
To make it easier to take it all in, we will be running a shuttle from the Mossy Oak Outlet and Pass it On to Nick’s Barber Shop. You can also park at Annabelle’s Antiques and catch the shuttle.
With a jam packed weekend planned we look forward to seeing you there!
