Tuesday afternoon was one of those times when the community comes together to celebrate a common interest.
The community pep rally for the local football teams had its divisions, mainly between Oak Hill and West Point supporters, but everyone in attendance agreed that this town is ready for football again.
West Point’s team, cheerleaders and marching band were all on hand in front of a very large crowd to be recognized prior to Friday night’s game against Shannon.
There were just as many fans of the Oak Hill Raiders on hand as well, cheering on the team and cheerleaders throughout the event.
Chancery Clerk Robbie Robinson was the Master of Ceremonies, and he performed a question and answer with head coaches Leroy Gregg (Oak Hill) and Chris Chambless (West Point).
He asked each coach their prediction for the 2010 season. Both were extremely optimistic about their teams’ chances for advancing to the playoffs. The celebration concluded with best-dressed fan awards given by the Growth Alliance.
