Connie (Gray) Fulgham
Connie (Gray) Fulgham, 89, formerly of South Mercer Street, Berwick, died Friday, August 12, 2011, at Berwick Retirement Village, I.
Born October 22, 1921, in Monroe County, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Mary Gray.
During World War II, Connie worked in a shell manufacturing plant in Mississippi, until she moved north where she worked at the Berwick Cigar Plan, from which she retired in 1983.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Berwick and the Berwick Chapter of the Eastern Star, #228.
She was known for her love of children, which prompted the nickname, “Nana,” and her love of dolls.
Mrs. Fulgham is preceded in death by her husband, who she married July 9, 1938, Daley L. Fulgham, who died January 7, 1997; three brothers: Robert, George, and Charles Gray; and one sister: Ludie Gray.
She is survived by one daughter: Brenda Remaley and her husband Paul, of Berwick; two sons: John A. Fulgham and his wife Pam, of Berwick, and Bobby W. Fulgham and his wife Donna, of Texas, and nine great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by four brothers: Ollie Gray, of Bloomsburg, Jimmie and David Gray, of Texas, Thurston Gray, of M.S.; two sisters: Reba Cantrell of M.S., Mary Gray, of OH, one sister-in-law: Daisy Burka, of Berwick.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at 11:00AM at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with the Rev. Rob Rice, her pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., Berwick.
