Luncheon with Books (LWB) at noon Thursday, will meet in the fellowship hall of the First Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in West Point. Due to conflicts with the Summer Reading Program going on at the library, Rev. John Kellogg invited Friends of the Library to hold the June edition of LWB at the church.
“Carolyn Haines is scheduled to come Thursday because she’s in the Golden Triangle area this week,” Lucille Armstrong, president of Friends of the Library said. “She has an animal rescue, “Good Fortune Farm Rescue” at her home in Mobile, Ala., and doesn’t like to leave her animals for very long at a time. This was the perfect week for her to join us despite the children’s activities at the library. So, for this time only, we’ll meet in the church fellowship hall.”
Armstrong said Friends of the Library are always excited to have Haines speak at LWB. She is always full of funny anecdotes and stories about her work, Armstrong said. Haines schedules her personal appearances around time she can take away from her animals, she is speaking at the Columbus/Lowndes library today and she is in West Point tomorrow, according to Armstrong, and it would have been an imposition on the busy author to change the date. Thus, the change of venue, Armstrong said.
