Eagle woes continue in 2014, Wolverines shine
MATHISTON — Hebron Christian started the 2013-14 campaign with a near-perfect 7-1 overall record, which involved a three-win open to District 3-A.
The Eagles’ second half of the season has not started in similar fashion to the first.
Monday evening, Hebron (7-4; 3-1 District 3-A) dropped its third consecutive game in 2014 with a 64-37 loss to the East Webster Wolverines during an inter-association (MHSAA-MAIS) game on the campus of the Wood Institute.
A 10-1 run in the final two minutes of the first half helped the Wolverines pull away from the Eagles before the intermission, 28-19. Hebron and East Webster were tied at the 4:30 mark of the second quarter after two successful Landon Hill free throws for the Eagles were followed by a successful free throw from the Wolverine’s Tanner Pritchard.
East Webster point guard Samuel Butler lit up the scoreboard during the final 16 minutes, adding 17 of his 27 points during the third and fourth quarters. Butler knocked down two consecutive 3-pointers before the close of the third quarter, giving East Webster a 15-point lead, 42-27.
