The public library has always been the place to go to glean information. With the onset of the electronic age the Bryan Public Library is no longer contained just in the brick and mortar building, patrons with a library card can access a world of information through the Tombigbee Regional Library System website. The site is interfaced with libraries all over the state of Mississippi, according to TRLS Director, Tanna Taylor.
“It is now so easy to access the TRLS website to place books on hold, have them sent from other libraries, borrow an ebook and download it to a Kindle, Nook or other device,” said Taylor. “The home page of TRLS offers other resource sites connected with the library for ACT practice testing for high school juniors and seniors, many resources for college students of all ages, Work Keys tests for employment opportunities and so many other sites for children and adults.”
The BPL is growing its ebook library slowly but surely. Taylor said the medium is very expensive, but all the libraries in the TRLS are interfaced with the ebook leading program along with the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library. She hopes the funding for ebooks will expand with the economic growth coming to West Point.
