Unsolved cases span from now to years back for West Point Police Department investigators. Investigators continue their hunt for new information regarding cases, which occurred in 2011, ranging from thefts of gaming consoles to a man that perhaps liquidated a burglary being carried out on his property.
At about 1 a.m. March 20, 2011, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Fifth Street in reference to a possible armed robbery.
According to WPPD Chief of Investigations Albert Lee, the homeowner quite possibly interrupted a burglary that was allegedly being carried out on his residence.
The victim, according to Lee, opened the carport door from inside his dwelling and proceeded to enter. Upon entrance, Lee said the victim was allegedly "hit in the head" with the backside of a pistol (model unknown). Amidst the struggle, Lee said the suspect went on to discharge a round into the homeowner's leg.
