The annual Adopt-a-Family campaign, which seeks to provide West Point and Clay County families in need with wish-list items for Christmas, is off to its strongest start since the program’s inception some 21 years ago.
Tim O’Brien, Renasant Community Bank president, said families had been adopted and donations had come in more quickly this year than ever before, with only five of the original 78 families remaining as of Thursday. Residents have thus far contributed about $750 toward the cause, as well. It’s a collaborative effort that O’Brien said comes as no surprise.
“The West Point and Clay County communities have really come together to make this a giving season over the years,” O’Brien said. “They’ve always been great at coming forward with adoptions and donations.”
