Small, local businesses are vital to fueling and promoting local economic development and certainty. American Express (AE), since 2010, has coined the Saturday following Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday (SBS), which serves to advertise and promote local businesses. And on Nov. 30 this year, the goal is to have as many individuals “shop small” in their communities.
The opportunity to emphasize self-sufficiency, said Ron Aldridge, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), simply could not go untapped.
