Make no mistake, those aren’t time travelers — those are competitors in the costume contest during the 2013 harvest banquet hosted by the Northside Christian Church (NCC).
The Annual Harvest Banquet not only rings in tune with the season, but emphasizes the biblical concept of sewing and reaping. A “celebration of the provision of God,” said NCC Pastor Orlando Richmond Sr.
Since its inception 116 years long past, the NCC strives to employ a unique blend of creativity and good old fashioned ministry during events and Sunday services. With over 600 members consisting of all creeds, colors and stripes, anything other than diversity, according to Richmond, “(is) irrational and certainly at odds with Christian principles.” Richmond added it’s vital that the “community of faith” in Clay County must learn how to “worship and serve” together.
