COLUMBUS — Senior Aeris Williams and junior Quincy Starks combined for eight touchdowns and 374 rushing yards, and West Point (6-4; 4-2 District 1-5A) ran away from Golden Triangle rival New Hope (4-6; 2-4 District 1-5A), 76-50, in a MHSAA District 1-5A game on the campus of New Hope High School.
The Green Wave clinched a berth into the playoffs with the victory and can enter the MHSAA Class-5A postseason as either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed out of District 1-5A.
West Point can host the first-round playoff game with a win against Lewisburg in the final game of the season and a Clarksdale loss to Center Hill.
Williams tallied 227 yards on 23 carries with touchdown runs of five, 41, 79, four and two yards. Starks would score on runs of 19, 64 and 45 yards, gaining 147 yards on the ground.
