One of the easiest ways an ordinary person can do something extraordinary is to donate blood. The entire process takes about half an hour and can mean the difference between life or death for someone in an emergency.
“We are always in need of donors, especially now with the holidays approaching,” said Phlebotomist Brittiany Peden of United Blood Services. “Some people think we only want O negative type blood, but that isn’t true. We need all types of blood, but O negative is universally used in emergency situations where you don’t have enough time to type the patient’s blood. We are happy to have donors of all types.”
