West Point has trailed at halftime three times during the first four district contests. When losing at halftime, the Green Wave has faced a combined deficit of 64-14 and has lost two of the three games.
That luck changed against Lake Cormorant in week eight as West Point used a major comeback to clinch its second district win, 24-21, after falling behind in the first two quarters, 21-0.
“There is a certain amount of fire that you have to have inside yourself to get motivated to play,” West Point Head Coach Chris Chambless said. “I a firm believer that when you are born some people have it and some people don't ... Sometimes we have to dig deep inside ourselves. You have to be a little more self-motivating to yourself ready to play. Our guys will have to do a better job getting ready and wanting it. They need to play with passion.”
In the second-half of the four district contests, West Point outscored its opponents by a combined score of 89-36.
