The West Point Police Department is expecting to welcome a new member to the family in the not-so-distant future.
Many thanks to a grant awarded by the Office of Community Oriented Police Services (COPS) Hiring Program (culminating to CHP), the WPPD achieved what, for the longest time, seemed like a pipe dream, said WPP Chief Tim Brinkley.
The CHP grant has a three-year grant period, thus any agency in the nation can apply respectively. After two prior attempts, the WPPD was certain the third attempt on the 50-page behemoth of an application would come up empty-handed. Lo and behold, lending credence to the phrase "the third time's a charm," the WPPD nabbed the golden ticket.
