Everyone deserves a voice. Court Appointed Special Advocates of Clay County work to give children within the community theirs.
CASA, an initiative established in 1977 and implemented by Youth Court Judge Thomas Storey in Clay County in 1990, seeks to provide volunteers to advocate for the best interest of abused or neglected children removed from their homes. Volunteers with the nonprofit group are assigned cases through the youth court and work to keep a consistent presence in the child’s life throughout their tenure in the foster care system. It’s a role local CASA Director Mary Jean Vance said is crucial during what can be a frightening time for a child.
