In the recent seasons, West Point has had what many would say were some of the most dangerously potent backfield combinations that have worn the green-and-white and terrorized defenses.
During the 2010 state championship season, it was senior quarterback Justin Cox and senior running back Lakendric Thomas pounding away at the MHSAA 5-A classification. The following season, senior quarterback/tailback Dequinten Spraggins and junior running back Tez Lane joined forces, causing havoc for many opponents. Last season, it was the backfield duo of thunder and lightning as Lane – making the switch to quarterback – paired with junior running back Aeris Williams – both bringing a special dynamic to the huddle.
