Jefferson Lafette Montroy Jr. 76, of Eupora, passed away June 8, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora.
Jeff, also known as “J.L.” was born June 29, 1936, to Jefferson Lafette Montroy, Sr. and Erma Starnes Montroy in Eupora. He graduated in 1955 from Mathiston High School where he was a starter on the high school football team for 5 years. He attended Memphis State University and was employed with Bryan Foods for over 20 years. He worked as a consultant for meat packaging plants in Detroit and Los Angles before retiring and moving back to his family farm. Mr. Montroy was a member of Lollars Grove Baptist Church and a Veteran of the Army National Guard where he served for 11 years.
Jeff was an avid fan of Mississippi State football and NASCAR’s Jeff Gordon. In his earlier years he raced speed boats but in later years devoted his time to fishing and hunting with his beloved dogs, Tarapin, Jimmy, and Jax.
Funeral services were Monday, June 10, 2013, 11 a.m. at Lollars Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Weddle and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial followed at Lollars Grove Cemetery. Wise Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of arrangements
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Mary Lois Mitchell and Margie Nell Littlejohn, and niece, Cynthia Littlejohn Yeager. Survivors include his son Charles Robert Montroy of Columbus, OH, daughter, Melissa “Missy” Orman (David) of West Point, grandson, J.C. Montroy, granddaughters, Roxie Lofton, Joy LaBarge, Micah Banks, and Megan Banks, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers are Tim Littlejohn, J. C. Montroy, Caleb Yeager, Mike Mitchell, Van Johnson, and Hilton Gibson. Honorary pallbearers are Hayden Mitchell, Virgil Holland, Bobby Roberts, Hugh Schaffer, and Phillip Smith.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
