Jimmie Pruett Jr.
Jimmie Pruett Jr., age 88, passed away, Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, North MS Medical Center, West Point. Jimmie Pruett, Jr. was born Jan. 22, 1922, in Smithville, Miss.,to the late Donie Little Pruett and James Daniel Pruett. He was a mechanic for Mississippi National Guard for 29 years and was a self-employed carpenter. Mr. Pruett faithfully served his country during WW II in the United States Army. He was a Charter member of the West End Baptist Church and faithfully served as deacon for 64 years. He was the First Clay County Volunteer of the Year, chosen in 1990 for the “Thousand Points of Light” award. Jimmie married Mildred Fulgham Pruett Oct. 17, 1946; she predeceased him on Nov. 9, 2009.
Funeral services are Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at 2 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Mike Mathena officiating and Reverend Terry Partin assisting. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Roger Daniel Pruett and his wife Sandy of Waxahachie, Texas; two grandchildren: Alicia Pruett and Jonathan Pruett and his wife Jessica, and one great grandchild, Paiton Daniel Pruett. Two children: Jimmie Earl and Debra Ann; seven brothers: Hollis, David Clinton, Aubrey, John Otis, Clovis, Sr., Audie, Sammie; and one sister, Flora Bell Pruett, also preceded Mr. Pruett in death.
Pallbearers are Robert La Shier, Bill Cappleman, Bobby Blackwell, Mike Matthews, Billy Ellis and Keith May.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Harmon and the Deacons of West End Baptist Church.
