Calvary Baptist Church is hosting a Women's Conference, "Charged: Women Charged by God for God" from 2 - 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27. The guest speaker is Melanie Hankis Booth.

“Charged” is a new women’s ministry at Calvary Baptist Church," Kerri Gentry-Blissard said.  "It will give women an opportunity to come and worship with other women while receiving the motivation and inspiration to be “Charged” by God for God."

Blissard said women can apply these things in their daily lives as a wife, mother, and friend.

A quote from John Maxwell said, “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.  The secret to your success or happiness is found in your daily routine.”

Blissard said that’s the purpose to put God in our daily routine everything else will fall into place.

"I want to invite women to come to get charged for God," Bridget Shows said. "We can take a couple of hours away from the house and the kids to do something to bring us closer to God."

Shows said in the role of mothers, wives, nurturers and caregivers, women very often make no time for themselves. She wants to invite women of all ages to come and do something for themselves that will truly empower them in their Christian walk with God.

"I want to let go and let God," Shows said. "We so often get bogged down in the routine of our daily lives and have little time for God. I want that to change. This has been on my heart to provide a ministry for women for a while. Now it's here and I am so excited to offer the opportunity to all the women in West Point."

This is the first Women's Conference of this type at Calvary Baptist Church, and Shows is planning another to take place in April.

Shows said Isaiah 40:31 is the scripture that came to her when she was planning "Charged: Women Charged by God for God."

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31.
