Northside Christian Church will host its annual Harvest Banquet at 6 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Mary Holmes Auditorium.

The banquet will feature home cooked food, fellowship, door prizes, a raffle and a best dressed contest for attendees in Thanksgiving-period clothing.

“We call it ‘Let’s Cook What Grandma Cooked’, and all the food will be homemade by church members, even wild game,” church member and event coordinator Dorothy Ryland said.

Ryland said there will be door prizes from merchants in the community including Mississippi Sweets, Jubilations, Love’s Truck Stop, Wal-Mart, Southern Ionics, The Barber Shop, Hampton Inn and more.

Ryland said there will also be a raffle for a 40 inch television, a turkey frier and a $50 gas gift card. Tickets for the raffle will be $5.

Ryland said children in the church will mime, and the auditorium will be decorated with fall decorations.

She said last year around 300 people attended the Harvest Banquet.

“We are a very active congregation in the community,” Ryland said. “This is an annual event and just one of the ways we give back to the community.”

The Harvest Banquet is free and open to the public.
