The Clay County Board of Supervisors accepted a quote of $13,800 from Evans AC and Plumbing for a new air conditioning unit for the upstairs of the Clay County Court House.
Chancery Clerk Amy Berry said the funding for the new air conditioning unit would be an expense to the building's maintenance and grounds budget.Sheriff Eddie Scott said the 15-year-old unit in the upstairs of the court house and courtroom had gone out.
Deputy Stanley Lee said the new 15 ton unit had a five year warranty on the compressor and a one year warranty on the rest of the system.
Lee said the new system included the air conditioning unit, duct work modification, gas modification and electrical modification, and the price of the unit included installation and disposal of the old unit.
During the meeting, the board also tabled a motion to make July 3 a holiday after a proclamation by Governor Phil Bryant.
Berry said if the holiday was approved, the board's July meeting would take place July 5 with the next meeting the following day on July 6.
The board recessed until 9 a.m. on Thursday.
