With this year's Prairie Arts Festival right around the corner, the North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point Wellness Center will offer a training program for anyone who wants to run the PAF 5K.
Training runs begin at 4:30 p.m. Mondays, June 12-Aug. 28. Participants will meet at the Wellness Center unless otherwise instructed.
Instructor Stacey Arnett said the training was for men or women of any age.
"It is for beginners who have never run in a 5K before," she said.
Arnett said the program will include include training protocol for two to three additional days each week “on your own.”
"The Prairie Arts Festival is right here in West Point," Arnett said. "I think a lot of people are interested or intrigued in running in it, but they don't know where to start, so we want to help those who are interested get started."
The $35 fee will include program materials, instruction and a T-shirt. Everyone who completes the training program will be entered into a prize drawing in which the winner will have his or her registration fee refunded.
To register or for more information, call 495-9355 or stop by the Wellness Center at 185 Medical Center Circle.
