The seventh annual Sally Kate Winters Fun Run is 8 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Sally Kate Winters Park. There is a $25 registration fee for adults and $15 registration fee for the kid’s fun run.
“We decided to do things a little differently this time,” Heather Usry, Outreach Coordinator of Sally Kate Winters Family Services, said. “We are having it in the morning instead of the afternoon. We hope more people will participate and bring their family. Our events are always family friendly.”
The run is open to people in all fitness ranges. For some it may be a 5K walk, it doesn’t matter, this is not for professional runners. They are more than welcome to come and run but it’s an event that is meant to include everyone.
“There have been lots of prizes donated by area businesses for runners who cross the finish line first in different divisions,” Ursry said. “It always makes us feel so very blessed at how generous people in the community are in their support of us. This is a wonderful community full of people who are always willing to volunteer goods, time, or whatever we need.”
Usry wished to than the participants of the Mary Holmes College Reunion, they donated items that the kids who find shelter with them are always in need of during placement.
“The people from the Mary Holmes Reunion were so very generous,” Usry said. “We can use everything they brought to our kids last weekend. The support we get from not only the West Point Community but from other places as well, is overwhelming but we appreciate it so very much.”
