The Horseshoe Robertson Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, lost three members during the club calendar year, Carolyn Cooper, Joanne Westbrook and Esther Pippen. The DAR members held a memorial service during the monthly meeting Wednesday, at the home of Regent Gaynell Duke to remember these souls who were so important to the community as a whole.
“I am the resurrection and the life, he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die,” Jeanette Unger, DAR chaplain, read. “We bought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. The Lord gave and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord. Let us now with quiet and grateful hearts, remember before God the dearly departed Esther Pippen, Joanne Westbrook and Carolyn Cooper. They have left our our earthly companionship, but still will live within our hearts. The remembrance of these remarkable ladies is dear and blessed.”
