West Point (9-2; 6-1 Region 1-5A) posted its third consecutive shutout and raced to a 27-point advantage as it downed the Lewisburg Patriots (3-9; 1-6 Region 1-5A) 34-0 on Thursday night at McCallister Field in West Point. The decision extended the Wave’s winning streak to six.
West Point starts its journey toward the program’s eighth state title next week. The Wave, who is the No. 2 seed from Region 1-5A, squares off against the Ridgeland Titans, who are the No. 3 seed in Region 2-5A, at 7 p.m. Friday in West Point. The Titans were defeated by the Germantown Mavericks 52-7 on Thursday night in Ridgeland, earning them the No. 3 seed. Ridgeland did not enjoy its last postseason trip to McCallister Field as West Point eliminated the Titans 56-21 in 2012.
