The West Point Green Wave (7-2; 4-1 Region 1-5A) maintained its winning streak in dominating fashion on Friday night. The Wave downed the Saltillo Tigers (0-10; 0-5 Region 1-5A) 50-0 at McCallister Field in West Point. The win extended the winning streak to four.
This week, West Point faces off against the New Hope Trojans in Columbus. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. New Hope won the last season’s meeting over the Wave 20-15 in West Point. A Wave win this week and next (Nov. 6) would guarantee home-field advantage with an opponent to be determined from Region 2-5A.
Leading the way, the Oxford Chargers (7-2; 5-0 Region 1-5A) control their destiny to claim their third straight Region 1-5A title. The Chargers need a win over this week’s opponent, the Center Hill Mustangs, and a loss by the Lake Cormorant Gators to wrap up the No. 1 spot. Oxford and Center Hill kick off at 7 p.m. Friday in Olive Branch. Lake Cormorant (7-3; 4-1 Region 1-5A) battles Clarksdale (6-4; 3-2 Region 1-5A) on the road.
