West Point residents will have a new place to seek safety during inclement weather as the city received two new storm shelters on Tuesday.
The shelters were funded in part by a mitigation grant from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). Clay County EMA Director Kerrie Gentry-Blissard said the city originally applied for the grant in 2008, but didn’t receive approval for the shelters until 2014.
