With the 37th annual Prairie Arts Festival (PAF) just around the corner, the Clay County Emergency Management Agency hosted a table-top exercise with local officials and emergency responders Wednesday at the West Point Civic Center.
Representatives from Clay County EMA, Clay County Sheriff's Department, West Point Police Department, West Point Fire Department, Clay County Volunteer Fire Department, the West Point-Clay County Growth Alliance, Clay County E911, North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point, Mississippi Highway Patrol, American Red Cross, Salvation Army and other agencies participated in the exercise.
Brian Maske, of the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) was on hand to take participants through a potential emergency scenario for PAF.
"Everyone should leave with a lot of questions, and have an idea of the communication and coordination it takes to handle this type of emergency," Maske said. "We see it time and time again — when people don't communicate, they screw up. I don't want to see that happen here."
