Youth hoops deadline looms

January 12, 2011

Due to the Christmas Holidays and the harsh economic times, the city took steps last month to try and give parents a little more time to get their kids involved in the city’s youth basketball league that will start next month.
The original sign-up deadline, slated for December 30, was moved back to January 15.
That means that Saturday will be the final day to sign kids up for participation in the league.
The season was originally scheduled to start on Monday, but that date will likely be pushed back as well.
Youth baseball, softball and t-ball sign-up dates began earlier this month as well on January 3.
The sign-up for those sports ends on February 28, as the Parks and Recreation Department is looking to get an April 4 start to the Dizzy Dean season.
