The West Point Police Department is in the midst of investigating old cases that have accumulated dust over recent months.
At about 8:30 a.m. May 1, WPPD responded to a call regarding a possible burglary at the Bryan Public Library.
Chief of Investigations Albert Lee said the case is shrouded with intrigue as there were no visible indications of forced entry. According to the incident report, the BPL reported the alleged burglar(s) managed to break into and empty the library safe which housed a large quantity of cash. The report did not specify the gross amount which resided in the safe.
There were no injuries reported, and the point of entry is a key element in the investigation, said Lee. Additionally, the investigation hit a barrier due to the library’s lack of security cameras which would otherwise serve to help investigators identify physical characteristics of the alleged perpetrator were he or she to have wandered into the camera’s line of sight.
