WPPD looks into series of burglaries

November 26, 2013

The West Point Police Department is keeping its ears to the ground in an effort to close the files on a burglary case from the year prior, in addition to fresh robberies.
At about midnight Oct. 13, 2012, officers were dispatched to the Town Creek Apartments in reference to a possible burglary of a dwelling.
According to WP Chief of Investigations Albert Lee, the homeowner, upon arrival at the residence, discovered a 20-inch Sony flatscreen television had been allegedly stolen. No serial number was provided.
Lee said the point of entry was the back window which had been “broken out” by the alleged offender. The alleged offender, according to Lee, “rambled” through the apartment and proceeded to exit the dwelling through an alternate route.
Zip forward to about 3 p.m. Aug. 18 of this year.
Officers were dispatched to the National West Point Alumni Chapter Inc. at 415 5th St. in reference to a possible burglary.
According to Lee, officers were told someone entered the building and proceeded to steal several items, which included a Fedders air conditioner window unit. Lee said the offender(s) removed the air conditioner in order to gain access through the window on which it rested.
